In a quiet village, a rich merchant lived with a bright and talkative pet parrot. He kept the bird inside a golden cage and took good care of it with sweet fruits and chillies. The clever parrot entertained its master with lovely songs and stories. Even though it received great care and comfort, the parrot was unhappy inside the cage and longed to fly freely in the open sky with green trees.
One day, the merchant prepared to travel to a far-off land for business. He asked his pet what gift he could bring back for it. The parrot begged for its freedom, but the merchant refused because he loved the bird dearly. The bird then requested the merchant to convey its warm greetings to its parrot friends in the jungle.
During his journey, the merchant saw a flock of green parrots in a forest and delivered his pet's greeting. Suddenly, one of the wild parrots dropped from the branch like a stone and lay still on the ground. The merchant felt deeply saddened by this sight and quickly hurried away.
When he returned home, the merchant told his pet parrot the sad news about the bird in the forest. As soon as the caged parrot heard this message, it also fell from its perch to the floor of the cage. The merchant thought his beloved bird had died of shock. With deep sorrow, he gently lifted the warm bird and placed it outside on the windowsill.
At once, the clever parrot stirred, spread its beautiful green wings, and flew high into the sky. It happily shouted that its forest friend had shown it the way to escape. Through its clever trick, the bird successfully won its precious freedom.
